Bettie Page, rest in peace

Bettie Page passed away last week. Very sad. She was a true American icon. I feel kind of weird because I had just listed my copy of the Bettie Pages 2 on Amazon, when I heard the news.

New Top Gear website

You wouldn’t know by the 7 year old Honda I drive, but I love Top Gear, and now they have a Top Gear fan site just for American fans. The site has Top Gear videos; not that YouTube doesn’t, but you’ll be getting them straight from horses’ mouth. am I mixing metaphors? I’ve lost my mind.

I can write or talk about my adoration for Top Gear Ad nauseam, but I won’t, because right now I’m more interested in eating dinner.

Chao! Or rather, chow.

Vintage Space Age Illustrations

Here’s a very cool find: The design website Well Medicated has posted 45 “space age” illustrations. You’ll be wondering: “where’s my flying car, or giant-wheel motorcycle (they have these now, BTW), tree decorating robots, ski-tables, rocket subways, boat horses, jet packs, and fan powered cars?”

Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe season 5 in the wild

Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe season 5 is rolling on YouTube.

GB is currently going through debates about the moral sanity of their TV content (kicked off by comedians Banks and Ross). Interesting.

The greatest documentary of all time

People talk on and on about documentaries like An Inconvenient Truth or Bowling for Columbine, but they all pale in comparison to the Hatfield Hotdog Launcher Documentary.

I might be biased as a Phillies fan, but a cannon that shoots hotdogs: what’s better than that?

Duck / Grapes Joke

This is my favorite joke:

Got Any Grapes?

A ducks walks into a bar and asks, “Got any grapes?”

The bartender, confused, tells the ducks that no, his bar doesn’t serve grapes. The duck thanks him and leaves.

The next day, the duck returns and says, “Got any grapes?”

Again, the bartender tells him that, no, the bar does not serve grapes, has never served grapes, and, furthermore, will never serve grapes. The duck, a little ruffled, thanks him and leaves.

The next day, the duck returns, but before he can say anything, the bartender begins to yell: “Listen, duck! This is a bar! We do not serve grapes! If you ever ask for grapes again, I will nail your stupid duck beak to the bar!”
The duck is silent for a moment, and then asks, “Got any nails?”

Confused, the bartender says no.

“Good!” says the duck. “Got any grapes?”

‘Tis the season for cheesy Christmas Music

Christmas time is here…

Original Bad Santa kicks arse

So it’s time for Christmas music, and since most Christmas music is cheesy by default, it’s no wonder there’s tonnes of it on Dr. Forrest’s Cheeze Factory. David Hasselhoff, Jingle Dogs, Chipmunks, Jingle Frogs, Jingle Cats, “Dark Side of the Christmas Tree”, PacMan Christmas… the list goes on and on. This site has it all.
